As a shout-out to all our fans in the Connecticut area, today's the day of the Democratic Primary Election! Now is the moment of truth, when the local senatorial election battle between Lamont and Lieberman comes to a head!

So what are you waiting for, Democrats? Get out there and vote already! Oh, and Authorman has also generously provided his opinion on the matter. If you're up for a long political rant, read below.

One guess who my vote's going to,
The Creator.

I'd like to tell you a little tale about my politics and my opinion of the Lamont/Lieberman race. So without further ado...

When I first registered in 2004, I did not join a political party. It was after the primaries but before the main election and I was disgusted with both main parties. The republicans because they were (and are) immensely abusive of their powers, from the politically motivated and completely insane meddling in the Terry Schiavo affair, to the Iraq war. Not to mention that the party I once supported in 2000 (McCain) had gone farther right of center than Ghengis Khan. AND being from Connecticut gave me a politically lethal exposure to the Republican Party after growing up with John G. Rowland. Honestly, I could probably write 20 pages on how much I hate that guy, good riddance to bad rubbish.

So, becoming a Republican was right out. That would leave me the Democrats, (or a third party, but at the time, the Reform party was a running joke, the Greens were disgraced after 2000 and I'm not a Socialist/Nazi/whatever other crazy ass parties exist).

However, just like before, being from Connecticut gave me a politically lethal exposure to the Democrats, namely one Joe Lieberman. You might be seeing where I'm going with this and yes I am a Lamont supporter, but more on that later. Lieberman has always been at the forefront of the Democratic right wing, posing as a "Moderate", supporting "Moderate" causes as censorship in media and the like. However, it wasn't until 2000 until I really started hating the guy. He joined the ticket with fellow censorshipaholic Al Gore, (who I still don't trust, he doing the exact same thing McCain is doing, moving towards the extreme of their party because they failed as moderates) and did everything but cup Dick Cheney's balls in the vice-presidential debates. The vice-presidential nominee on the ticket is only supposed to do two things, one be from a different region of the country than the Presidential nominee and two be the emotional flip-side to the candidate. Bush was out being congenial and cordial (in his uniquely condescending way) while Cheney was his pit bull, coordinating attacks on opponents and being a general prick. Unfortunately, Gore and Lieberman played the same role, unassuming bland guy, and they hoped that the population's dislike for their opponents would be enough to push them through. It didn't.

That's reason number one why I don't like Joe Lieberman. The second reason is what he did for Connecticut after 2000, as in nothing. Not even mentioning his not giving up his Senate seat in 2000, where if he and Gore had won, that rat Rowland could've appointed whomever he liked as the new Senator. I'm talking about his disappearing act from his constituents in Connecticut. The guy was in Connecticut for what, a combined three seconds from after 2000 to this primary challenge now? The man had his head in the clouds even after his shameful finishing third for third place in 2004.

Lastly, the third and most important reason why I don't like Joe Lieberman is his enabling of the current administration and its failed imperialistic conquest of Iraq. He has undermined his own party by making partisan legislature look bi-partisan by supporting it and has supported Republicans on such shameful subjects as Terri Schiavo and birth control. His comments about how rape victims shouldn't be able to get adequate care if the hospital doesn't feel like providing it was positively barbaric. I don't know, maybe Lieberman played too much baseball as a kid, and believes 'walking it off' will cure anything.

Asshats like Lieberman are why I'm not a Democrat, even though I registered to vote in the primary. That's right, I'm one the multitudes of swing voters that sound the death of Lieberman's Senatorial career. Who knows, if the Democrats continue on this track of competence I might not switch back to being unaffiliated.

Oh and you may have noticed, in this entire spiel, I never talked about Ned Lamont. Why? Because I don't know much of anything about him. However, I'd vote for a sack of potatoes before I'd vote for Lieberman. Besides, I think the potatoes would get more done for Connecticut.
